Effective Ways To Minimize Unwanted Drama In Your Life: Part 1

Drama affects us all in some way or another. Some of us live in it, and others try to avoid it. There’s something about it that reels us in, but on the other hand, we can’t stand it. For the most part, we try to live our lives as stress-free as possible. If you want to find out how to help minimize unwanted drama in your life, here some ways to guide you through that journey:

1. Are you creating the drama?

If there’s a lot of drama going on in your life, you might have to ask yourself a difficult question: who or what is the constant here? If the answer is you, then you might want to evaluate what’s going on. Don’t worry too much about it, because it's not too late to change things around. Chances are, if you’re creating the drama, you’re probably not satisfied with some aspects of your life. This most-probably prompts you to unknowingly create drama to fill the void. Find ways to avoid this. Perhaps it’s as simple as doing more things that make you happy, or asking for help when you need it to get you out of a funk. Whatever it is, make sure you’re honest with yourself and evaluate why things are the way they are.

2. Take a step back

Sometimes we need to take a step back and look at the whole picture before a situation escalates. A lot of the time, we feel overwhelmed in our own heads clouded by particular circumstances that we can’t figure out. In cases like these, it’s best to look outside the box. Inhale, exhale and take a step back to see things more clearly. Whatever you’re feeling in the moment won’t last forever. Take comfort in that.

3. Communicate clearly

Poor communication, or lack thereof, can cause a lot of drama. Think of it this way: if you aren’t clearly telling people what’s on your mind, how do you expect them to understand you? Nobody can read minds, so let them know what’s on yours. It’ll lead to a lot fewer misunderstandings!

We all fall into the drama trap every now and again. Some of us more than others. The key is to recognize when it’s happening and practice these simple tips to help you out a bit. Maybe all you need to do is to read some drama to get your fix instead of creating or living in it.
