Life Lessons Learned from Beverly Hills 90210

Luke Perry passed away on Monday at the age of 52, surrounded by his loved ones, after suffering a stroke. In his memory, we take a look at the four life lessons we learned from watching Beverly Hills 90210.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Perry portrayed the brooding son of a billionaire Dylan McKay, a rebellious but handsome young surfer dude on the surface. But throughout the show we get to know his softer side, and as Brandon Walsh finds out, he even reads The Collected Works of Lord Byron!

Prioritize yourself. In perhaps one of the most gripping moments of the entire series, when Kelly is torn between accepted Brandon’s engagement ring or the promise of a trip around the world with Dylan, she chooses neither, opting instead to be happy by herself.

Honesty is always the best policy. Although it made for entertaining television, the would have been a lot less drama in Beverly Hills had everyone just been honest. One instance in particular happened in season three when Brenda gets caught sneaking around with Dylan after lying to her parents...

Nothing is permanent. While this one may not have so much to do with Dylan as it does with life in general, we need look no further than the many fashion trends witnessed throughout the seasons of Beverly Hills 90210...
